Fifteen Strollers met at the Mortonhall Garden Centre for a walk round Mortonhall and the Braids. A couple had even walked from Hunters Tryst to the start of the walk. Keen strollers, as a number 18 bus would have taken them to the start.
Leaving the garden centre and the coffee and scones behind us, we walked up past the caravan park entrance and the Stables Ba. We turned left to follow the path between the fields of horses. Passing the walled garden, we went under the trees to follow the path down past Buckstone Primary School. We continued with Mortonhall Golf course on our right to come out at Braid Road. Turning right, we then went up Braid Mount and into Bramdean Rise to enter the Braids and follow the paths up to the seats. We stopped there for lunch and to admire the views overEdinburgh and down the East Coast to Berwick Law and as far as the bridges in the opposite direction.
Continuing,
we followed the last couple of holes on the small Braids golf course to take us
back down to an offshoot of Liberton Drive, also called The Ride, and turned
right here to follow it back down past the caravan park and back to the garden
centre.
Time
for more lunch or coffee and scones and to dry out from the slight shower that we
had just before the caravan park. Otherwise, it had been a lovely and warmer
day than expected.
Here’s
to similar weather on the next walk.
